Holy Cross hosted the second annual Jim Kavanagh Legacy Invitational on Apr. 18 at Hart Track, where sophomore Josh Gentchos broke his own school record in the men’s 200-meter dash. Gentchos finished first in the event with a time of 21.57 seconds, surpassing his previous record of 21.59 set on May 10, 2025.
The invitational also featured several other strong performances from Holy Cross athletes. Gentchos won the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.75 and joined Logan Mott, Iain DeBoth, and Willem Martino to win the men’s 4×100-meter relay.
Sophomore Robert Foster took first place in the men’s 2,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 6:15.09, while senior Liam Lyons won the men’s 1,500 meters in a time of 3:44.21. Junior Tristan Miller finished second in the men’s 400 meters with a time of 48.17.
In relay events, Mott, Martino, Miller, and Brendan Rogers claimed victory in the men’s 4×400-meter relay by finishing six seconds ahead of their nearest competitors with a time of 3:19.58.
Other notable results included senior Jack Ryan winning men’s javelin (61.95 meters), freshman Nic Oglesby placing second in high jump (1.92 meters), and junior Chandler Dicks winning long jump (7.11 meters).
Holy Cross honored its senior class following competition and will next compete at Northeastern’s Jay Carisella Invitational on May 2 before heading to Durham for Duke Twilight Meet on May 3.
