The Holy Cross baseball team lost 14-2 to Lehigh on April 26 at the Ballpark at Fitton Field. The game ended after seven innings, with Lehigh securing the win in this Patriot League matchup.
This result moves Holy Cross to a record of 18-25 overall and 12-11 in the Patriot League, while Lehigh improves to 14-28 overall and 7-16 in league play. The outcome is significant as it impacts both teams’ standings within their conference.
Senior CJ Egrie led Holy Cross offensively, going two-for-three with a run scored and a stolen base. Egrie’s stolen base was his thirty-ninth of the season and ninety-first of his career, tying him for third place all-time in Patriot League history alongside Shawn Harris from Fordham (1992–1994). Freshman Owen Stelzer also contributed two hits, including a double and a run scored. On the mound for Holy Cross, sophomore Brett Mulligan pitched two-and-a-third innings without factoring into the decision. Freshman Henry Harding took the loss after allowing six runs—two earned—in one inning of relief.
Lehigh’s Jake Mulvehill earned the win by pitching a complete game with ten strikeouts over seven innings. Trystan Crawford led Lehigh’s offense with three hits—including a double and home run—four runs batted in, two runs scored, and one walk.
The game saw Lehigh take an early lead with runs in each of the first three innings before scoring eight times in the fourth to break open what had been a tied contest. Additional home runs extended their advantage through five innings before another pair of scores set up the final margin.
Holy Cross will continue its homestand against Harvard on Tuesday, April 28. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
