The Holy Cross baseball team clinched a place in the 2026 Patriot League Tournament after defeating Lehigh twice on April 25 during Senior Day and the program’s 150th Anniversary celebration at Fitton Field.
The doubleheader victories ended a seven-game losing streak for Holy Cross, bringing their overall record to 18-24 and their conference record to 12-10. The team has now qualified for the conference tournament for three consecutive seasons.
Senior pitcher Jaden Wywoda led the Crusaders in game one by throwing his third career complete game shutout, allowing only three hits and matching his personal best with nine strikeouts over seven innings. Wywoda has not allowed a run against Lehigh this season across two complete games. Junior outfielder Gianni Royer contributed significantly by hitting a home run and driving in five runs in the first game.
In game two, sophomore Jake Lenahan made his first collegiate start, pitching seven scoreless innings with six strikeouts. The second contest was decided by junior catcher Van Coughlin’s walk-off squeeze bunt, which sent Holy Cross to the postseason.
Holy Cross recognized seniors CJ Egrie, Brock Graf, and Jaden Wywoda before the games. According to postgame comments from head coach Ed Kahovec shared on social media, “Postgame with head coach @EdKahovec ???#GoCrossGopic.twitter.com/bi2tK4VfUE”.
Looking ahead, Holy Cross will attempt to complete a series sweep of Lehigh on Sunday, April 26.
