The Holy Cross baseball team earned a 7-6 victory against Bryant on Apr. 29, with junior infielder Alex Sandell delivering a walk-off drag bunt in the tenth inning at Fitton Field.
This win marks the Crusaders’ fourth victory in their last five games and brings their season record to 20-25. The team has now achieved at least 20 wins for three consecutive seasons, while Bryant’s record moves to 22-19.
Sandell contributed significantly, going 3-for-6 with an RBI and two stolen bases. Freshman outfielder Liam Daly added his third home run of the year, finishing with two hits and two runs scored. Junior John LaFleur also made an impact by driving in two runs with a double during the first inning. According to the game summary, this was Holy Cross’s sixth late-inning rally of the season.
On the mound, freshman Ethan Maddies provided effective relief pitching and recorded his career strikeout total during middle innings. Junior Andrew Nesson pitched two scoreless innings late in the game, earning his first win of the season and matching his career high with four strikeouts.
The Crusaders will conclude their regular season with a three-game series at Lafayette starting May 2.
