The Holy Cross baseball team won 14-5 against first place Bucknell on April 10 during the opening game of a key Patriot League series at Depew Field in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.

This victory marks the Crusaders’ sixth consecutive win and their ninth in the last twelve games, improving their record to 15-16 overall and 9-4 in league play. The Bison dropped to 18-13 overall and 11-2 in conference action. Over their current winning streak, Holy Cross has outscored opponents by a margin of two-to-one.

Senior CJ Egrie led the offense with three hits, three stolen bases, and two runs scored. He is also tied for fourth place all-time in career steals within the Patriot League.

Junior John LaFleur contributed his first three-hit game of the season, including a home run with three runs batted in (RBI) and two runs scored. Junior Alex Sandell also hit a home run and drove in three runs while Ryan Grundy cleared the bases with a double for another three RBIs. Sophomore Jake Lenahan earned his sixth career save after pitching four innings out of the bullpen.

Head coach Ed Kahovec shared postgame thoughts via social media following the team’s performance. The Crusaders will continue their road trip at Bucknell with a doubleheader scheduled for Saturday, April 11, where senior pitcher Jaden Wywoda is set to start game two.
