The Holy Cross men’s track and field team participated in the University of Rhode Island Coaches Invitational on Saturday, February 14, in Kingston, Rhode Island.
Rookie Jake Baker led the team with a win in the weight throw, recording a mark of 16.70 meters. He also achieved a personal best in the shot put with a distance of 14.68 meters, placing fifth. Freshman Matt Shaw set a personal record in the 200 meters with a time of 23 seconds to finish third and ran 52.25 seconds to secure sixth place in the 400 meters.
Junior Matthew Perkins finished third in the finals of the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.55 seconds. In field events, junior Michel Mondesir cleared 1.99 meters to take third place in the high jump and posted a personal best of 12.96 meters for eighth place in the triple jump. Junior Logan Mott was fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 13.61 meters, while sophomore LJ Hines took seventh at 13.17 meters.
In throwing events, junior Michael Laflamme placed sixth in the weight throw at 15.11 meters, and freshman Padraig DeMarr earned seventh place with a personal record of 14.90 meters. Junior Nate Greenberg finished seventh in the long jump at 6.21 meters, and sophomore Lewis O’Connor was eighth in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:33.93.
The Crusaders are scheduled to compete next at the Brown Invitational on Saturday, February 21.
