The Holy Cross men’s tennis team recorded a 4-2 loss to Loyola (Md.) on April 13 in Baltimore, then returned home to secure a 5-2 win over Sacred Heart on April 15.

These results bring the Crusaders’ season record to 7-12 overall and 1-4 in Patriot League play. The Greyhounds improved their record to 3-13 overall and 2-5 in league action, while the Pioneers dropped to 4-14.

Junior Matt Carlson completed Patriot League singles play undefeated with his fourth conference victory, finishing with a perfect record of 4-0. Against Loyola, Carlson won at No.1 singles with a score of 6-2, 6-4 over Petter Hagen. Junior Teddy Callery added another point for Holy Cross by winning at No.2 singles, but these efforts were not enough for the team win as Loyola secured victories at No.1 and No.2 doubles for the doubles point.

In their match against Sacred Heart, Holy Cross claimed the doubles point with wins from Carlson and Callery at No.1 doubles (6-1), and Aayush Jhaveri paired with Will Donnelly for a tiebreak win at No.3 doubles (7-6). In singles action, Callery (No.2) came back after dropping his first set to win his match in three sets; Jhaveri also posted a straight-set victory at No.3 singles.

Looking ahead, Holy Cross will conclude its regular season campaign by facing Bentley on Monday, April 20 as preparation before entering Patriot League postseason play.
