The Holy Cross softball team lost both games of a doubleheader against Brown University on Apr. 21. The Crusaders were defeated 4-0 in the first game and fell 7-0 in the second.

Senior pitcher Sophia Roncone reached a career milestone during the second game by surpassing 400 career strikeouts. She is now one of only three players in program history to achieve this mark, joining Kelly Nelson with 602 and Genoa Grosch with 579.

In the first game, Bridget Mulkeen started for Holy Cross, pitching over five innings and allowing four runs—two earned—while striking out three batters. Brown broke a scoreless tie with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to secure their win. Offensively for Holy Cross, Ali Sniegocki went two-for-three at the plate.

Game two saw Roncone pitch over four innings, giving up five earned runs while striking out four batters and reaching her milestone. Anna Brait recorded one hit for Holy Cross, while Abby Bettencourt led Brown’s offense with a double, home run, three runs batted in and two runs scored. Brown took an early lead on a solo home run by Maya Choski and added five more runs in the fifth inning.

The Crusaders will travel to Boston University this weekend for their final conference road series of the regular season. The series begins with a doubleheader scheduled for Saturday, Apr. 25.
