The Holy Cross softball team was defeated by North Dakota with a score of 9-0 on Sunday, closing out the Spartan Round Up in Norfolk, Virginia.
Bridget Mulkeen started as pitcher for Holy Cross, completing 5.1 innings and allowing seven hits and six earned runs. She recorded six strikeouts and four walks. Avery Toddings entered in relief, pitching 1.2 innings and giving up four hits and three earned runs while striking out two batters.
For North Dakota, Tegan Livesay pitched a complete game, allowing only one hit over seven innings with four strikeouts and one walk.
At the plate, Emma Pietrzak had the sole hit for Holy Cross—a double. Camryn Lasota led North Dakota’s offense by going 3-for-4 with two doubles, a walk, and three RBIs.
North Dakota scored first in the second inning with a two-RBI single from Jaedyn Valdez. They added another run in the third on an RBI single by Lasota. The lead grew further as North Dakota tallied six more runs across the sixth and seventh innings to reach the final margin.
The Crusaders will next travel to Baltimore for a four-game series against UMBC starting Saturday, March 14. The weekend will begin with a doubleheader scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
