The Holy Cross women’s lacrosse team defeated Boston University 12-8 at Kuzniewski Field, according to an April 23 announcement. Senior Mackenzie Creagh made 12 saves in the game, helping the Crusaders improve their season record to 7-9 overall and 5-4 in the Patriot League. The Terriers now stand at 8-9 overall and 4-5 in conference play.
The win is significant for Holy Cross as it marks a continuation of their strong performance within the Patriot League. The team has now secured a winning record in league play for three consecutive seasons, which ties the longest streak in program history.
Boston University started strong with a quick three-goal lead within eight minutes and maintained a 5-2 advantage at halftime. However, Holy Cross responded after halftime with a five-goal run led by sophomore Hadley Cepiel, who contributed two goals and two assists during that stretch to tie the score at seven. After briefly falling behind again heading into the fourth quarter, Holy Cross closed out the match with five unanswered goals.
Cepiel finished with six points on three goals and three assists. Seniors Kate Burns and Tory Rider each scored twice, while junior Kate Avitabile added four points through one goal and three assists. Senior Racheli Levy-Smith recorded twelve draw controls—tying her own school single-season record of 170—and collected three ground balls.
Looking ahead, Holy Cross will begin Patriot League Tournament play against Bucknell on Sunday, April 26.
