Holy Cross men’s lacrosse senior defenseman Michael Rincon was named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week, according to an April 13 announcement from the league.
The recognition follows Rincon’s performance in a recent game where Holy Cross secured a 13-12 win over Fairfield. In that match, Rincon tied for the game lead in both ground balls and caused turnovers, recording eight ground balls and four caused turnovers. He also contributed his second career assist. Two of his caused turnovers occurred between Holy Cross’s tenth goal and their game-tying eleventh goal in the fourth quarter.
Rincon has forced a career-high 26 turnovers this season, which leads all Crusaders players, ranks second in the Patriot League, and is tied for sixth all-time in Holy Cross history. Additionally, he leads all Holy Cross defensemen with 47 ground balls. This marks his second time receiving Patriot League honors this season.
The Crusaders currently hold a record of six wins and six losses overall, with two wins and four losses within the Patriot League. Their next game is scheduled for Saturday, April 18 against Bucknell in Lewisburg at 11 a.m.
