The Holy Cross women’s track and field team hosted the second annual Jim Kavanagh Legacy Invitational on Apr. 18 at Hart Track in Worcester, Massachusetts. The event recognized the achievements of the 2026 senior class and honored the 1985 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Champion Holy Cross cross country team.
Freshman Megan Moran set a new school record in the 2,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 7:10.09, surpassing Maura Doherty’s previous mark of 7:20.91 from April 2024. The invitational featured strong performances across multiple events by members of the Crusaders squad.
The Holy Cross A team won the women’s 4×100-meter relay with a time of 46.70 seconds, featuring Giavanna Ciaravino, Abby Desmarais, Danielle DiEsso, and Nyla Palmer. Senior Celia Kulis secured first place in both the long jump (5.46 meters) and women’s 100-meter hurdles (13.75 seconds). In sprint events, Ciaravino finished first in the women’s 100 meters (12.06 seconds), closely followed by Desmarais (12.08 seconds).
Other notable results included Abby Granrath taking third place in the women’s 1,500 meters (4:33.83), Ester Mokonchu finishing third in hammer throw (45.07 meters), Bridget Sachs winning pole vault by clearing 3.66 meters, Lily DeGeorge claiming victory in discus with a throw of 44.65 meters, and Gabby Paolella and Maddie Goncalves finishing first and second respectively in shot put.
Looking ahead, Holy Cross will compete next at Northeastern University’s Jay Carisella Invitational on May 2 before heading to Durham for Duke’s Twilight Meet on May 3.
