Sophomore Owen Tunney has been recognized as the Hilton Garden Inn Crusader of the Week for his performance with the Holy Cross men’s lacrosse team during the week of February 9-15.

Tunney contributed seven points over two games, scoring five goals and making two assists. In a game against Merrimack, he tallied three points by assisting on a goal that brought the score to 2-1 and scoring twice to extend leads to 4-2 and 10-6 in a match that ended with a 14-8 win for Holy Cross.

Later in the week, facing Sacred Heart, Tunney achieved his first collegiate hat trick and matched his career-high point total by recording four points—three goals and one assist.

So far this season, Tunney has scored more goals than he did last year (seven this season compared to three last year) and is five points away from matching his previous season’s point total after just four games.

The Holy Cross Crusaders currently have a record of 2-2. They will continue their homestand on Saturday, February 21, when they play Le Moyne at Kuzniewski Field at 1 p.m.
