Senior Racheli Levy-Smith was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week for competition from April 13 to 19, according to an announcement on Apr. 20.
Levy-Smith’s recognition highlights her continued impact on the Holy Cross women’s lacrosse team, marking her sixth weekly defensive honor this season and eighth in her career.
During Holy Cross’ recent 14-9 win over No. 17 Loyola, Levy-Smith contributed with 10 draw controls, four caused turnovers, and three ground balls. She took every draw in that game as the Crusaders edged Loyola in draw controls by a margin of 13-12. Earlier in another victory against No. 14 Army, she recorded 15 draw controls and two caused turnovers.
So far this season, Levy-Smith has accumulated a total of 158 draw controls, 37 caused turnovers, and 36 ground balls. Throughout her career at Holy Cross, she has set a school record with a total of 442 draw controls along with collecting 106 ground balls and causing 84 turnovers.
Holy Cross holds an overall record of six wins and nine losses (4-4 in Patriot League play) and is scheduled to host Boston University on Thursday, April 23 at five p.m.
