Freshman Shane McDonnell has been named the Patriot League Faceoff Specialist of the Week, according to an announcement from the league on Monday.

McDonnell won 30 faceoffs across two games for the Holy Cross men’s lacrosse team this week, achieving a 62.5% win rate. He also collected 13 ground balls and set a personal best with 17 faceoff wins in Saturday’s game against Sacred Heart.

So far this season, McDonnell has won 42 out of 68 faceoffs, which gives him a 61.8% success rate. This places him third among Patriot League faceoff specialists who have attempted at least 30 faceoffs. This is the second consecutive week that McDonnell has received this recognition from the league.

The Crusaders, currently holding a 2-2 record, will continue their homestand on Saturday, February 21, when they play Le Moyne at Kuzniewski Field.
