42 percent of applicants to the Worcester Polytechnic Institute were admitted for fall 2018

At the Worcester Polytechnic Institute, 99 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 62 percent are male, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year private not-for-profit institution in Worcester enrolled 6,874 students in fall 2018, including 4,668 in undergraduate and 2,206 in graduate programs, data shows. 0.7 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

42 percent of undergraduates are residents of Massachusetts, and 51 percent are residents of other states. 7 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (62 percent) and Hispanic or Latino (9 percent).

The school admitted 42 percent of the 10,584 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 29 percent enrolled.
