Men’s Golf Finishes 13th At NCAA Regional Championships

The Assumption University men's golf team completed its season with a 13th-place finish at the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regional Championships at the Ravenwood Golf Club on Saturday.

St. Thomas Aquinas won the event with a total team score of 881. Charleston was second with an 883, while Gannon and Davis & Elkins tied for third with an 887. All four teams advanced to next weekend's NCAA Championships in Michigan. Jordan Hyland of Davis & Elkins, meanwhile, won the individual crown by carding a three-day total of 213, which was three strokes better than any other golfer at the championship event.

Sophomore Sean Magarian (Worcester, Mass.) led the Greyhounds by placing tied for 34th overall with a three-day score of 224. Senior Ryan Fillebrown (Ayer, Mass.) tied for 49th with a 227, while sophomore Mitchell Tarrio (Augusta, Maine) and freshman Jack Moy (Sutton, Mass.) rounded out the team scoring that totaled a 907 by registering marks of 228 and 230, respectively, on the par 72, 7,083-yard course.

Assumption concluded an excellent academic year this weekend. The Greyhounds won the Northeast-10 Conference championship before finishing 13th at the regional championship. The program graduates five seniors, including Fillibrown, and is slated to return nine letterwinners next season.
