SHELL, DROSIDIS, POWERS VOTED ABCA / RAWLINGS ALL-REGION

Senior right-fielder Jason Shell (Sandwich, MA), senior shortstop Kosta Drosidis (Holden, MA) and junior utilityman James Powers (Folsom, CA) were voted to the 2022 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) / Rawlings NCAA Div. III All-Region teams as announced by the Association on Monday.

Shell was named second team all-region while Drosidis and Powers were voted third team.

Shell, who had already been voted the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Year and had already been named the 2022 Breakout Athlete of the Year at the Anna Maria College Athletics Department Awards, hit .382 with four home runs and 33 runs batted in for the AMCATS in 40 games this season. Shell tied the school's single-season record for triples in a season with five while his 60 hits and 95 total bases this season rank him third all-time. Shell set the Anna Maria's all-time record in career stolen bases at 34 while ranking second all-time in school history in career doubles with 42. His 270 total bases on his career rank him third all-time.

Drosidis furthered his already storied career in 2022, setting the school's all-time record in career home runs with 20 while shattering the previous mark by six. His 60 hits this season are the second-most ever by an AMCAT while his fourteen doubles were also second all-time. His 37 runs batted-in are the fourth-most in a single season. Drosidis was voted to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) first team for the third consecutive season, and was ultimately recognized as the Anna Maria College Male Athlete of the Year. For his career, he is currently first all-time in career slugging (.637) and is second all-time in career batting average (.384), runs batted in (120) and on-base percentage (.458) while ranking third in hits (170) and fourth in runs scored (111).

Powers had already earned All-GNAC First Team honors for the second straight season as he hit .366 with a .455 on-base percentage and 25 runs batted in, reaching the 100-career hit milestone faster than any AMCAT of the modern era. Powers split time at left field, catcher and infield, filling in wherever head coach Dan Briand needed him.

The ABCA, founded in 1945, is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 13,000 members represent all 50 states and 25 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include eight divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School and Youth.

The 2022 season saw the AMCATS set a new standard for the program for years to come. The team set a modern school records in regular-season wins (23), runs (289) and home runs (31).
