Women's tennis honored by ITA

Ten members of the Nichols College women's tennis team were named 2022 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III Scholar-Athletes. Additionally, the team was amongst the 125 colleges and universities awarded All-Academic Team honors.

Seniors Victoria Lussier and Kara Stankewitz joined junior Victoria Palkon, sophomores Cristen McSweeney, Jordan Knowles, and Johanna Schroeder, and freshmen Antonia Carrero, Camila Magrin, Kiley O'Brien, and Bethany Prendergast on the squad.

Last fall, Stankewitz (marketing), Lussier (hospitality management), Palkon (international business), Knowles (finance), and McSweeney (accounting) were each named to the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Academic All-Conference Team. Carrero – the 2021 CCC Player and Rookie of the Year – is a marketing & finance major while Schroeder is a general business major, Prendergast is a finance major, Magrin is a general business major, and O'Brien is a general business major.

A total of 940 Division III student-athletes were recognized for their academic prowess in 2021-22. ITA Scholar-athletes must possess a grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 or above for the current academic year. Teams, meanwhile, require a GPA of 3.20 or above in order to be recognized.
