“Leading with Empathy” the cover story of the Summer 2021 edition of the Assumption University Magazine is honored in the “Best Feature Article” category of the Catholic Media Association (CMA) Alumni Magazine Awards.
The 2022 CMA Alumni Magazine Awards recognizes the superior “journalistic quality, and strong reader engagement” of higher education alumni digital or print publications, according to the association. To be considered, entries must be part of a 2021 print or digital publication.
“Leading with Empathy” written by Holly Robinson, received third place in the “Best Feature Article” category for highlighting the strong and enthusiastic collaboration between Assumption University students and alumni who pursued senior leadership at Fidelity Investments.
Through the mentorship of highly distinguished Fidelity professionals, current Assumption students have been afforded opportunities for internships and jobs post-graduation. Assessing the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the workforce and focusing on a well-rounded Catholic, liberal arts education, the story highlights the quality of an Assumption student’s education to form the whole person and thus making an Assumption graduate stand out as a professional in the workforce.
In 2021, Assumption University Magazine won first place in the “Hot Topic-Current Events” category for Tales of Hope, Faith, and Community Amid a Global Pandemic by Kimberly Ruscitti. In 2020, the Spring 2019 magazine received two honors. Assumption Magazine was recognized in the “Best Interview” category for the faculty profile on Assumption University professor Alison Cares and in the “Best Single Photo” category capturing the embrace of Meaghan Curley ‘16 and a Peruvian woman she fit with a hearing aid.
The Catholic Media Association is a global network of Catholic communication professionals, established in 1911. The full list of honorees is published in The Catholic Journalist, and on the CMA website.
