Nichols College to add Women’s Golf Beginning in 2023

Nichols College Division of Athletics announced today that it will add women's golf as its 11th NCAA-sponsored women's program. Competition is scheduled to begin in the 2023-24 academic year.

"This is a great day for Nichols College," said Nichols College President Glenn Sulmasy. "With our own golf course and a growing undergraduate enrollment, this was the right time to add a women's golf team."

"We are excited to bring women's golf to our campus," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Jack Hayes. "This is another example of Nichols College moving forward. I am grateful for President Glenn Sulmasy's support of our athletics program and, specifically, his commitment to women's athletics."

Nichols College owns the Dudley Hill Golf Course, which is adjacent to the campus. The Bison men's golf team practices there and the course will soon be the home of the women's team as well. Tim Howard will be the program's first head coach. Howard, a Worcester State graduate and collegiate golfer, will continue to serve as the Nichols men's head coach, a position he has held since 2015.

"This is an exciting time for Nichols Athletics," said Howard. "The addition of a women's golf team is a sign of the continued growth on our campus. There is a rich tradition of collegiate golf in New England and I look forward to building a foundation for our women's golf program."
