The Holy Cross men's soccer team was defeated by Sacred Heart 2-0 at Park Avenue Field. The Crusaders fall to 0-3 on the year, while the Pioneers improve to 1-2 overall.
Sacred Heart opened the scoring in the 36th minute when Javier Lopez Cayuela volleyed in a free kick by Lucas Miquel Castrillo from eight yards out near the left post. The Pioneers then made the score 2-0 in the 79th minute when Rob Taylor scored from 16 yards out in the center off a feed from Lopez Cayuela.
Sacred Heart finished the game with a 12-9 advantage in shots, while each team attempted six corner kicks.
Holy Cross returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 6, when it travels to UMass-Lowell for a 7:00 p.m. game.
