FIELD HOCKEY FALLS TO BUCKNELL

The Holy Cross field hockey team opened Patriot League play and fell 3-1 to the Bucknell Bison on Saturday, Sept. 17.

The loss sends the Crusaders to 1-6 and the Bulldogs to 2-4 on the season. Sophomore forward Meggan Fourie scored the lone goal of the day for the Crusaders.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Kari Melberger scored the Bison's first goal of the day just 0:55 into the first quarter.
  • Less than two minutes later at 2:27 of the first, Noor Kaur notched another goal for Bucknell.
  • Gianna Puorro scored the next goal for the Bison at 11:44 of the third quarter, bringing the score to 3-0 in favor of the bison.
  • Fourie found the back of the cage with 4:46 remaining in the game off of a corner attempt with an assist from junior midfielder Ryleigh McComas. 
OUTSIDE THE BOX:

  • Junior goaltender Brooke Ross made five saves on the day.
  • Junior defender Haley Davis made her fourth defensive save on the season.
UP NEXT:

  • The Crusaders will host Merrimack on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 7 pm on the Hart Turf Field.
