The Nichols men's soccer program fell in a 1-0 thriller to Castleton University Wednesday afternoon at Dave Wolk Stadium.
The Spartans (3-2-1) netted the lone goal of the match at the 3:21 mark of the first half, and held off the Bison (5-3-1) for the remaining 87 minutes.
Nichols outshot Castleton 5-1 to start the second half, but could not find the back of the net. Freshman Tristan Phillips led the squad with four shots, followed by graduate student Nicholas McGrath and freshman Brady Stevenson with three each.
The Bison head back out on the road Saturday, September 24, for a Commonwealth Coast Conference matchup with Western New England at Suprenant Field in Springfield, Mass. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
