HOLY CROSS READY FOR GAME AT LEHIGH

The Holy Cross men's soccer team will play its second straight road game when it heads to Lehigh for a 6:00 p.m. contest on Saturday, Oct. 1.

Things to Know About the Crusaders (4-6-0, 0-3-0 Patriot League):

• Holy Cross has an overall record of 4-6-0 on the season, with an 0-3-0 mark in the Patriot League. The Crusaders are coming off a 2-0 loss at Colgate on Wednesday.

• Sophomore forward Evan Jones is once again among the top offensive threats for Holy Cross this fall, and leads the team in scoring with nine points on four goals and one assist. During the Army game, he netted the Crusaders' first goal of the day. Jones previously scored three goals in the win at UMass Lowell, becoming the first Holy Cross player to record a hat trick since 2013. In 29 career games played, he has now totaled 12 goals and seven assists for 31 points.

• Senior midfielder Matt McGonigle scored his first goal of the season during the victory over UMass Lowell, then netted the game-winning goal against Hartford. On the year, he ranks third on the team in scoring with two goals and three assists for seven points. McGonigle has now totaled 21 points on six goals and nine assists in 40 career games played.

• Sophomore midfielder Jon Klein ranks second on the team in scoring with eight points on two goals and four assists. He tallied a goal and an assist in the win over Hartford, after recording a goal and two assists in the victory at UMass Lowell. In 27 career games played, Klein now has five goals and six assists for 16 points.

• McGonigle, senior midfielder Jack Ostrosky and senior defender Taj Salawu are serving as the Crusaders' captains this season.

Scouting the Mountain Hawks (2-5-1, 1-2-0 Patriot League):

• Lehigh owns an overall mark of 2-5-1 on the year, with a 1-2-0 record in the Patriot League. The Mountain Hawks are coming off a 2-1 loss at Bucknell on Wednesday night.

• Senior forward Jack Sarkos currently leads the team in scoring with 13 points on six goals and one assist.

• Sophomore Ryan Gross has started six games in goal for Lehigh this year, posting a 1.27 goals against average with 18 saves.

Series History:

• The Crusaders hold a narrow 15-14-5 advantage in the all-time series with the Mountain Hawks. Holy Cross has won five of the last seven meetings.

• The schools last played on Oct. 10, 2021, when the Crusaders posted a 1-0 victory in Worcester. Evan Jones scored the only goal of the game, while Jimmy Joyce posted a shutout.
