The Nichols football team suffered a 52-7 setback against Endicott on Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Hempstead Stadium. With the loss, the Bison fall to 3-3 (0-2 CCC) on the season, while the Gulls continue their perfect season bid at 6-0 (2-0 CCC).
Endicott bolted out to a 7-0 lead just 2:11 into the game when Clayton Marengi hooked up with Everett Knowlton III for a 6-yard score. The Bison responded with a touchdown of their own when Jack Morvan reeled in a 7-yard completion over the middle from Xavier Powell for the score just over three minutes later.
From there, Endicott went on to score 45 unanswered points, highlighted by 472 yards of total offense on the day.
In the special teams category, the hosts tacked on an 87-yard kickoff return for a score.
Zahir Booker had seven carries for 74 yards, averaging 10.6 per carry with a long of 54, which help set up the lone score. At quarterback, Powell completed 15 passes for 137 yards through the air, with a touchdown. Joshua Vitti was the main target, 73 receiving yards on six receptions.
On the other side of the ball, Derrick Revolus made 11 tackes, eight solo, including one for a loss.
Nichols will return home on Saturday, October 15, in a CCC matchup with the University of New England. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. from Vendetti Field.
