Women's Soccer Tripped Up By Saint Anselm, 1-0

The Assumption University women's soccer team dropped a midweek Northeast-10 content to Saint Anselm College, 1-0, at Brian Kelly '83 Stadium Wednesday afternoon.

 

THE BASICS

Score: Saint Anselm College 1, Assumption University 0

Records: Greyhounds (4-4-4, 3-4-1 NE10) | Hawks (7-5-1, 3-5-1 NE10)

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

In the early portion of the contest, Assumption generated some offense, as they fired two shots in the opening three minutes that went on target. The two teams continued to trade chances, but neither side would get on the board.

Saint Anselm College would break through early in the second half, as Olivia Gotobed used a cutback move ten yards out and fired a left-footed shot into the far top corner, making it 1-0. Despite multiple chances, the Greyhounds could not find the equalizer and fell to the Hawks.

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Julia Walsh made six saves for Assumption.
  • The Hawks outshot the host 15-14 while also taking six corners compared to five for the Greyhounds.
  • Assumption still leads the all-time series 20-15-2.
