The Holy Cross men's swimming and diving team participated in the Boston College Invitational Saturday at the Margot Connell Recreation Center.
The Crusaders earned 279 total points and placed fifth out of five teams. The host Eagles won the invite with 942 points followed by Massachusetts (616.5), Bryant (499.5) and Providence (437).
Freshman Zach Bubonovich finished in first during the 100-yard breaststroke (57.03) while teammate, junior Charlie Nascimben (57.68) came in third place. In the 200-yard breast, Nascimben (2:06.69) and Bubonovich (2:08.59) placed first and second.
In the 500-yard freestyle, sophomore Patrick Walsh came in fifth at 4:51.40. He earned three points for the team with a top-20 performance in the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.49).
Sophomores Rory Hess (1:59.10) and Brendan O'Brien (2:01.18) were sixth and ninth place respectively in the 200-yard butterfly.
Freshman Jack Sorenson brought home eighth place in the 100-yard backstroke hitting the wall at 53.68 good enough for 11 points.
Freshman Alex Michael completed the 100-yard butterfly in 52.79 good enough for eighth place.
The 200-yard free style relay team consisting of freshman Chris Villani, Walsh, Sorenson and Nascimben was eighth with a time of 1:28.75.
In the diving events, junior Troy Dalton was awarded seven points for a 174.40 score in the three meter dive.
The Crusaders host the Worcester City Championship next Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Hart Center Pool.
