Lessons and Carols on December 5

Lessons and Carols

December 5

The annual Lessons and Carols is a long-standing and beloved holiday tradition at Assumption.  It is open to all members of the University community (students, faculty, staff, alumni/ae) as well as our friends in the Worcester community and beyond.

Adapted from a service that originated in Truro, England in 1880 and was popularized by Kings College in Cambridge, England beginning in 1918, Lessons and Carols includes music, Bible readings and other texts from the Advent and Christmas season.

This year’s service at Assumption will include music by the Chapel Music Ministry under the direction of Jonathan Bezdegian, VOCE, under the direction of Brad Dumont and Assumption’s organ scholars Gabriella Lindhurst ’23 and John Roper ’24.  Readers will be Dr. Greg Weiner (President), Professor Libby O’Hara (Management and Marketing), Mr. Ted Zito (Dean of Students), Ms. Rachel Dean (Campus Ministry), and students Noah Laren ’24 and Shekinah Kanamugire ’26.

The service, which will last about an hour, is open to the public and free of charge.
