Men's Basketball's Comeback Falls Short at New Haven, 74-73
The Assumption University men's basketball team's comeback came up short, as they fell to the University of New Haven, 74-73, in Northeast-10 Conference action Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
New Haven came out of the gates fast, as they ran out to an early 15-4 lead. The Greyhounds would try to chip away for the whole first half, as they would hang around, as the Charger's lead fluctuated from six points (24-18) to 13 points (36-23). UNH would carry a nine-point lead (46-37) into the break, as they shot 66.67 percent from the field while holding Assumption to 46.67 percent.
The Chargers carried their momentum into the second half, seeing their advantage balloon to 18 points (63-45, following a jumper from Justin Hendrick. The Greyhounds would not go quietly, as they responded with nine straight points, cutting the deficit down to nine points (63-54), thanks to a Njavan Stewart three-pointer 5:04 mark. Assumption continued to press as they dwindled the deficit do four points (74-70) after a Cooper Creek long-range bucket. After a quick foul and a missed free throw shot, Stewart drained another three to get the road team within one (74-73). Stewart had a chance to give Assumption the win at the buzzer, but his jumper was just a tad too strong, and New Haven survived with a 74-73 decision.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Kani Glover led the way for Assumption with 19 points and pulled down ten rebounds.
- Njavan Stewart (14), Isiah Gaiter (13), and Cooper Creek (12) all poured in double-figure points, while Creek had three rejections on the evening.
- The Chargers had a slight edge on the glass (33-30) while also outscoring the Greyhounds 40-24 in the paint.
- UNH shot 60.4 percent from the field, compared to AU's 41.8 percent.
- Assumption is now 2-4 in games decided by five points or fewer.
