Nichols men's basketball dropped a tough non-conference game against Albertus Magnus on the road on Friday night by the score of 91-85. The loss is Nichols' first defeat since November 30.
The Bison held a 47-45 lead at the break in what was a high scoring, back and forth first half. Jakigh Dottin led the way with 15 first half points on 7-12 shooting. Matthew Alectus pulled down 7 rebounds in the first 20 minutes of play to help Nichols on the glass.
Albertus opened the second half on a 12-2 run to give them a 57-49 lead with 17 minutes left to play. After a timeout, Nichols would settle down and fight their way back within 3 points. However, the Falcons would go on another big run to extend their lead to 14 with 10:50 remaining. Nichols would continue to battle their way back into the game, getting within 4 with under a minute to play, but an Albertus dunk with 40 seconds left sealed the win for the Falcons.
Alectus led the charge for the Bison with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Dottin stuffed the stat sheet with 19 points, six boards, four assists, and four steals. Tavon Jones also poured in 19 points of his own.
Nichols looks to get back in the win column on January 3 at 7:30 pm, when they take on Western New England at home.
