HOW IT HAPPENED
The energy was brought early, as a gigantic Cooper Creek block pushed the Greyhounds in transition, which led to a Njavan Stewart layup. It was a rough shooting night for both sides out the gate, as it was all square at four a piece at the 14-minute mark. The shooting woes would continue halfway through the first half, as both teams were shooting 33.3 percent or worse at this mark. The Greyhounds woke up as the half went on, as they started to knock down some shots, with Isiah Gaiter, Kani Glover, and Stewart all repping four points apiece. It remained a one-possession game until the final seconds when Glover drilled a corner three to beat the halftime buzzer. The home team would go into the breakup 23-19.
Saint Rose came out quickly and tied things up, but Assumption answered with a run of their own, getting the lead back to 31-27 at the 15:30 mark. Their offense began to cool off as the Greyhounds got baskets of their own, with Stewart and Cal Connelly contributing and getting the Assumption led to double-digits. Stewart continued his impressive day, leading the Greyhounds in scoring and knocking down two threes to increase the lead to 14 with 4:14 to play. The rest of the team joined him, as Assumption went 4-5 on their last five 3's to help close the contest. Led by Stewart's 28, the Greyhounds picked up their third straight victory 66-52.
