WOMEN’S BASKETBALL HITS THE ROAD TO BOSTON UNIVERSITY WEDNESDAY NIGHT

The Holy Cross women's basketball team takes the trip down Interstate 90 for a Turnpike Trophy contest with Patriot League leader Boston University on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 6 p.m. The contest will stream live on ESPN+.


WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (18-6, 10-3 PL): 

  • Holy Cross has lost three of their last five games including a 67-65 setback to American in overtime at home on Saturday. Three players scored in double figures for the Crusaders including junior Janelle Allen who came off the bench to tally 15 points, three assists, two blocks and two rebounds in 32 minutes of action.
  • Junior Bronagh Power-Cassidy was named Patriot League Honorable Mention for the fourth time this season. The guard averaged 19.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.0 steals per game on 50% (14-of-28) shooting and 46.7% (7-of-15) three-point efficiency.
  • Power-Cassidy has been selected Patriot League Honorable Mention for the third straight week. Over that stretch, she is averaging 18.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.0 steals per game while converting field goals at a 52.1% (37-of-71) clip and hitting three-pointers at a 41.4% (12-of-29) rate.
  • Power-Cassidy needs only two more three-pointers for 100 in her collegiate career.
  • Senior Addisyn Cross is two steals away for 100 in her career.
  • In the most recent NCAA RPI/Net Ratings, Holy Cross ranks second in the Patriot League at 167. Boston University is the conference leader at 112.
SCOUTING THE TERRIERS (18-6, 13-0 PL): 

  • BU has been on a roll since starting conference play winning 13 consecutive games including an 83-54 win the last time out versus Lafayette at home. Four players reached double digits for the Terriers including Caitlin Weimar who double-doubled with 21 points and 10 rebounds in 23 minutes off the bench while Maren Durant also had a double-double with 11 points and 11 caroms.
  • The Terriers rank third in the NCAA in three-point percentage as they convert triples at 39.3%. BU also is 19th in field goal percentage defense allowing opponents to shoot only 35.9%.
  • Caitlin Weimar is the leading scorer and rebounder for BU. Weimar averages a double-double 14.5 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. She paces the conference in field goal percentage (58.1%) which is 20th in the nation.
  • Against Patriot League foes, the Terriers have a scoring margin of 21.4 which is easily the best in the league. Holy Cross ranks second at 9.7. BU is also the conference leader in league games in field goal percentage (48.2%), field goal percentage defense (34.0), three-point percentage (37.8), rebound margin (10.5), assist to turnover ratio (1.1), blocked shots per game (5.2) and assists per game (16.4).
LAST TIME THEY MET: 

  • Holy Cross is 20-13 (.606) in the series history against Boston University dating back to 1975.
  • Holy Cross split the season series last year, but captured the 2022 Patriot League Regular Season title with a 59-48 win at home on March 2, 2022.
  • The Crusaders are 10-7 (.588) on the road at BU.
