The Assumption University baseball team fell in their Spring Break Trip finale. The Greyhounds dropped a 6-5 decision in 11 innings at Palm Beach Atlantic University Sunday afternoon.

THE BASICS

Score: Palm Beach Atlantic University 6, Assumption University 5 – 11 Innings

Records: Greyhounds (3-9, 0-0 NE10), Sunfish (7-10, 0-6 SSC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Assumption University was the first team to get on the scoreboard, as Cole Durkin scored on a wild pitch in the top of the third inning. The Greyhounds extended their lead to 4-0 in the top of the fourth, as Cody Smith drove in Connor Wironen with a single to right field before Jared Berardino drove in a pair with a two-RBI single to left field.

The Sunfish got on the board in the bottom of the fourth as they plated a pair. The host would eventually tie the game in the fifth, as two runs crossed the plate with a single up the middle. Emilio Acosta regained the lead for Assumption with an RBI double to left center field.

For the second time in three days, Palm Beach was trailing, entering the bottom of the ninth, and for the second time, the Sunfish tied the game in the bottom of the ninth with a bases-loaded walk with two outs in the frame. The game would once again go to the 11th inning, but this time, PBA scored to pick up the extra-inning win, as Matty Warren scored on a wild pitch.
