The No. 16 Assumption University women's lacrosse team had 11 players record a point as the Greyhounds picked up an 18-2 win over Saint Thomas Aquinas College Thursday evening at Brian Kelly '83 Stadium.


THE BASICS

Score: Assumption University 18, Saint Thomas Aquinas College 2

Records: Greyhounds (4-1, 1-0 NE10), Spartans (1-6, 0-0 ECC)

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

Assumption started fast and would not look back. Olivia Catanzarite scored 45 seconds into the contest before Mallory Bartlett scored back-to-back goals, making it 3-0 Greyhounds, 2:27 into the game. Jenna Joseph, Grace Chicko, Elizabeth Tighe, and Claire Desilva found the back of the cage to push the host's advantage to 9-0 after 15 minutes.

 

Kyle Johnston and Katelynn Johnston went back-to-back before Catanzarite made it 13-0 Greyhounds halfway through the second quarter. Molly Weiand and Desilva capped off the scoring in the second, as Assumption took a 14-0 lead into halftime.

 

After Kyle Johnston scored the lone goal in the third quarter, Katelynn Johnston and Isabella Jackson scored, making it 17-0. Arianna Tribble put Saint Thomas Aquinas College on the board with two goals in the final six minutes, while Gwen Enright split the two STAC goals with one of her own.


INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Skylar Troyan, Healey Torres, and Lily Orr combined to record six saves in the crease for Assumption. 
  • The Greyhounds outshot the opposition 27-11 while going 16-of-17 on clear attempts, while STAC was 6-for-17.
  • Assumption is outscoring their opposition 48-6 in their three home games.
  • AU now leads the all-time series 3-1.
