Assumption University Director of Athletics Eric Gobiel today announced that Andrew Masterson has been hired as the new Head Swimming and Diving Coach.

"I am elated to welcome Andrew to Assumption University," said Gobiel. "His experience, strong character, and leadership skills made him the ideal candidate to become our next head coach. He brings extensive swim knowledge and experience from his time at Holy Cross. I am confident he will work alongside our dedicated athletes to build upon the program's strong foundation in the coming years."
 
Masterson comes to Assumption via the College of Holy Cross, where he was the assistant coach for the Crusaders for the last two years. He has 12 years of coaching experience, working with athletes at various levels.

Prior to his time with the Crusaders, Masterson spent two years as the head women's swimming coach with the Worcester Public Schools from 2019-2021. He developed programs for swimmers of varying abilities and implemented training programs to maximize their growth.

Masterson was previously the aquatics director and assistant swimming coach at the Dorchester branch of the YMCA of Greater Boston from 2017-2019. He also spent time as the head swimming coach and assistant aquatics director at the J.W. Hayden Recreation Centre in Lexington, Mass., and as the head swimming coach at the Greater Lowell YMCA.

Masterson is a 2014 graduate of Bethany College with a bachelor's degree in political science. He and his family reside in Worcester.
