THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE CRUSADERS (4-12): 

  • Holy Cross returns north after a spring break trip to the Carolinas. Most recently, the Crusaders fell in a three-game series to The Citadel in Charleston, S.C., on March 10 and 11. 
  • Freshman outfielder Jack Toomey hit .556 (5-for-9) in the three contests at The Citadel. This season, the rookie is batting .277 and is tied for the team lead with three home runs. 
  • Senior first baseman Chris Benton has also hit three home runs on the year. 
  • Sophomore designated hitter Sean Scanlon has continued to shine this year for the Crusaders, with a .310 average and team-leading six doubles. 
  • As a team, Holy Cross has hit 33 doubles on the season. 
THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE PIRATES (4-8):

  • Seton Hall has fallen in its last three contests, with an 8-4 setback to Cal Baptist on March 7, a 2-1 loss to UC Santa Barbara on March 9 and another 2-1 loss to Monmouth on March 15. 
  • The Pirates opened the year with a win over then-No. 12 North Carolina on Feb. 17.
  • As a team, Seton Hall is batting .221 this season while allowing its opponents to hit .243.
  • Infielder Alex Clyde (.316) and utilityman Pat D'Amico (.310) lead the Pirates' offense; D'Amico has hit four doubles and two home runs on the year. 
  • On the mound, righty Cole Hansen has just a 0.63 ERA in 14.1 innings pitched. 
  • The Pirates play at Owen T. Carroll Field, named after Seton Hall's longtime baseball coach who is also one of the greatest pitchers in Holy Cross baseball history. The Varsity Club Hall of Famer compiled a record of 50-2, threw 16 shutouts, and helped earn three championships at Holy Cross. He owns the Holy Cross career records for wins, games started (51), complete games (45), shutouts (15), innings pitched (450.1) and strikeouts (387).
