The nursing licensure numbers are out and Anna Maria College’s 2022 nursing students scored 91%, well above the national average of 80%. The Massachusetts average pass rate is 82%.

“Anna Maria nursing students have achieved an NCLEX pass rate greater than 90% over the past two years and we are so proud of them,” said Linda Esper Ed.D., MSN, MBA, RN, Dean of Nursing Education. “I also want to thank the nursing faculty and clinical partners for all they do to prepare students for this exam and their healthcare careers. The pass rate speaks to the strength of our nursing curriculum.”

This year, Anna Maria College was awarded $1,000,000 in community project funding secured by Congressman James P. McGovern to upgrade its nursing simulation lab and enrich the educational experience for future essential workers. Work on this project will begin in the coming months.

Staffing shortages are a major challenge in the healthcare sector. The federal government projects that an additional 275,000 nurses will need to join the workforce by 2030 to prevent a significant workforce shortfall. A Massachusetts Health and Hospital Association survey in 2022 found that there are currently an estimated 19,000 unfilled acute care hospital positions across Massachusetts.

The Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing reports pass rate data to college nursing programs. The full list is available at: https://www.mass.gov/doc/percent-of-first-time-rn-licensure-candidates-educated-in-massachusetts-regardless-of-state-of-initial-licensure-pdf/download
