Student-athletes will compete to raise cancer awareness on Pink Out Day | https://news.worcester.edu/
On Saturday, April 1, the Worcester State Athletics Department will be hosting its first Rosen Cancer Awareness Pink Out Games with three home games to raise cancer awareness and funding. The baseball, softball and women’s lacrosse games will begin game action at noon and the teams will wear specially designed jerseys. All students, alumni, faculty and staff are invited to take part and show their support.
Included in the day’s activities will be a 50/50 raffle, opportunity to purchase the Pink Out jerseys, giveaways and exciting Worcester State game play. April 1 is the home MASCAC kickoff day for the Lancers as baseball and softball will host Salem State in their home MASCAC opener in double header action.Here’s the Pink Out Day schedule:
- Baseball: Lancers v Salem State, 12 noon- Kevin D. Lyons Diamond
- Women’s lacrosse: Lancers v Bridgewater State, 12 noon- John F. Coughlin Field
- Softball: Lancers v Salem State 2 p.m.- Ralph Raymond Diamond
The Rosen Cancer Awareness Fund was established by alumni couple Gregg and Pam Rosen to build a comprehensive, campus-wide program for cancer awareness, research, education and student support. It includes support for awareness programming, the establishment of a new internship through the Wellness Center to implement cancer awareness programs, a new Cancer Research Summer Program for student-faculty collaboration and financial assistance for students who have received a cancer diagnosis or have a family member with cancer.
