Graduate Student Cole Durkan hit a two-run walk-off homerun as the Assumption University baseball salvaged a weekend split against Bentley University following a 7-6 final score at H.L. Rocheleau Field

THE BASICS

Score: Assumption University 7, Bentley University 6

Records: Greyhounds (7-14, 2-2 NE10), Falcons (10-7, 2-2 NE10)

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Greyhounds started the last game in the series hot, as Jared Berardino's single in the bottom of the first scored Christopher Rabias and gave the home side an early lead. The bats, specifically Berardino's, stayed hot as he hit a one-run shot in the third inning, followed by a double scoring two runs by Connor Wironen, as Emilio Acosta and Cole Durkan came home. Berardino got his third RBI in the fourth, scoring Rabias again in the fourth inning.

In the sixth inning, the Falcons finally woke up at the plate. Jackson Walonis and Tommy Bolton secured RBIs in back-to-back innings to put Bentley on the board.

In the top of the ninth, Assumption was three outs away from the victory, but Bentley wasn't ready to go home yet. Liam Sears doubled to right center, which scored Joe Cacciatore and Brian Lindsay. A few batters later, Stan DeMartinis III hit a two-run bomb to silence Rocheleau Field and give Bentley a 6-5 lead after trailing 5-0. Despite this late comeback attempt, Assumption would get the last laugh. With two outs, Durkan walked it off for the Hounds with a deep two-run homerun to right center, giving Assumption the win.

Kyle Keating pitched 5.0 innings allowing 0 earned runs and three hits while striking out four. Ryan Cloutier went two innings and allowed two runs. Shane Cronin picked up the win by pitching the final two innings.
