AMCATS baseball players Anthony Pingeton (Charlton, MA) and Conor Francesconi (Beverly, MA) were named GNAC Pitcher of the Week and Rookie of the Week for games played March 20th - 26th.
Pitcher of the Week: Anthony Pingeton
Pingeton was spotless with a 0.00 ERA last week, as he allowed just five hits and zero earned runs over 8.0 innings of work, going 1-0 with a save while striking out 17 (19.1 K/9) and walking four. After tossing one inning last Wednesday against Curry, he struck out all six he faced over 2.0 innings against GNAC rival JWU on the road on Friday to nail down the save in a 4-2 victory as part of a huge doubleheader sweep. He then struck out 10 in just 5.0 innings on Sunday in a 5-2 win over NEC to earn the victory on the bump.
Rookie of the Week: Conor Francesconi
The first-year lefthander saved both of the games he appeared in last week, striking out four in 4.0 innings without allowing a run or a walk, and surrendering just one single.
Honor Roll: Jeremy Rosenberg Rosenberg posted a 1.167 OPS in a 4-1 week with two runs, two doubles and two RBI while hitting .533 (8-15) for the AMCATS. The first baseman slugger had three multi-hit games, including a three-hit performance in a 6-4 win over Curry last Wednesday.
The AMCATS are back in action on Thursday, March 30th where they will host the Castleton University Spartans at the New England Baseball Complex in Northborough, MA. First pitch is at 3:00PM.
