The ratio of students to teachers in Milford Public Schools District fell by 2.4% in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

There were 4,309 students being taught by 354.3 teachers in Milford Public Schools District, which covers schools within Worcester County and has a main office in Milford. That's an average of 12.2 students per teacher in the district during the 2021-22 school year.

In the previous year, Milford Public Schools District had 4,235 students and 338.1 teachers on staff.

However, the state is facing a teacher shortage, just like the rest of the U.S. NewsNation reported that the state was offering emergency teaching licenses to educators who only had bachelor’s degrees, in an effort to get more teachers into schools.

Despite the shortage, under-representation of ethnicities among teachers was found to be a concern. The Rennie Center reported that only nine percent of teachers are people of color.
