Census Bureau: 6.1% of people in Worcester County identified as multiracial in 2021

Of the 856,858 citizens living in Worcester County in 2021, 93.9% said they were only one race, while 6.1% said they were two or more races, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained in June.

The most prevalent racial group among citizens in Worcester County who reported being of a single race in 2021 was white, comprising 80% or 685,319 individuals. Following them, African American accounted for 5.2% and totaled 44,233 individuals.

The percentage of multiracial residents in Worcester County is 0.4% lower than the state average, which stands at 6.5%.
