Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School District enrolls mainly Black or African American students in 2022-23 school year

Black or African American was the most represented ethnicity among Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School District students in the 2022-23 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

In total, there were 787 Black or African American students enrolled, accounting for 55.4% of the district's student body.

The number of Black or African American students attending schools in the district increased 1.2% over the previous school year.

Meanwhile, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander students were the least represented ethnic group within the schools in Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School District.

Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School District roughly covers schools within Worcester County, and has a main office in Worcester.

The total number of students attending the district’s schools fell to 1,422 over the 2022-23 school year.

Students in Massachusetts are predominantly white, according to state data from 2023-24, representing 53% of the state's student body.

Across the state, Hispanic and Latino students saw the highest high school dropout rates.

Under representation is also found among educators in Massachusetts. The Rennie Center reported that only 7.8% of teachers identified as people of color in 2022.
