Women’s Volleyball Splits Saturday Action at Union Tri-Match

The Nichols women's volleyball team swept Cazenovia before falling in straight sets to Union on Saturday afternoon at the Vinair Athletic Center.

In the first match of the day, Nichols hit .338 en route to its ninth win of the season, winning by set scores of 25-18, 25-16, 25-9. The Bison were led offensively by Luna Colozzo's 17 kills on a .412 percentage, fueled in part by 28 assists from Kya Burdier and 15 from Ruby St. Onge.

Nichols totaled 44 digs in the contest, led by libero Liz Diorio with 12, helping silence the Wildcat offense to a .076 hitting percentage.

Despite close set scores, the hosts swept the Bison in their first-ever meeting. Colozzo added to her strong offensive performance on the day with 9 kills in the match against the Dutchmen, while Burdier and St. Onge dished out a combined 27 assists. Diorio once again backstopped the defensive efforts with a team-best 17 digs.

The Bison will be back on home court in their Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opener against Western New England on Tuesday, October 20 at 7 p.m.
